Flow State Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Flow State ("the app") handles your information. It is written to be accurate to what the app actually does, not boilerplate - if the app's data handling changes, this document must change with it.

Flow State is developed by Offline Studios, a non-profit that builds free, privacy-focused apps with no accounts, subscriptions, or data collection.

The short version

Your data is private. Everything you enter into Flow State is stored locally on your device, and no one else - not Offline Studios, not Apple, not any third party - can see it.

What data the app stores, and where

Flow State stores the following types of data, entered directly by you:

• Menstrual cycle information
• Daily symptom, flow, and mood logs
• Free-form notes you write
• App preferences (theme, onboarding status, cycle-length defaults, prediction model choice)

All of this is stored locally on your device only.

Data you import from other apps

You can optionally bring in period history from another app you've used. Flow State currently supports importing from Flo, Clue, Apple Health (via the Health app's "Export All Health Data" file), Natural Cycles, or a CSV file. Such files are read from the file you choose, processed entirely on your device, and stored the same way as data you enter directly - they are never uploaded anywhere.

Apple Health

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Flow State reads body-temperature data from your Health store to power one optional prediction model ("Temperature Shift"). This data is read and processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted anywhere. Connecting Apple Health is fully optional and never required; the app works without it using your locally-logged cycle history.

If we introduce cloud-connected features in the future, such as syncing your data between your own devices, we will design them so that your data remains private and inaccessible to Offline Studios and to Apple.

Third parties

Flow State does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. No data is sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party, because none is ever collected in the first place. If we ever add optional analytics in the future, it will never include your health data, and this policy will be updated first.

Your control over your data

• You can export your logged data at any time from Settings > Privacy > Export My Data.
• You can permanently delete all your data at any time from Settings > Privacy > Delete All Data.
• Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data.

Children's privacy

Flow State is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). Since the app collects no data anywhere but the user's own device, no data about any user, including children, is ever collected, transmitted, or retained by the developer.

Medical disclaimer

Flow State is a logging and tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Predictions shown in the app are estimates based on your own logged history and should not be used to make medical decisions. Consult a healthcare provider for medical advice.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same location with a new effective date.
